It’s the season of lights in the Washington DC metro area. Many parks and botanical gardens are hosting beautiful light displays through the new year:
Brookside Garden of Lights – Montgomery County MD hosts its annual display at Brookside Gardens through January 5th. Walk among the outdoor twinkling lights and glimmering displays that dot the paths and flowerbeds in 50 acres of parks and gardens. Closed Nov. 25-28, Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1. Bull Run Festival of Lights – NOVA Parks in VA hosts the festival at Bull Run Regional Park through Jan. 5th. Experience 2.5 miles of illuminated holiday light displays by car – turn off your headlights and follow the magical glow. You can purchase tickets online or at the site. $10 off on promotional nights.
Meadowlark Winter Walk of Lights – NOVA Parks in VA hosts the Walk of Lights through January 5th at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. Take an evening walk along paths adorned with lighted trees and displays featuring nature, winter, and holiday themes. The half-mile Winter Walk paved trail is wheelchair and stroller accessible. Zoo Lights – the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in DC transforms into an enchanting winter wonderland through Jan. 4th. Explore festive pathways and immersive displays throughout the Zoo. Marvel at glowing lantern animals in their dazzling habitats, watch live nightly musical performances, take a ride on the train or the Conservation Carousel, sample sweet and savory seasonal treats, and check gifts off your holiday shopping lists at our Asia Trail, Panda Plaza and Great Cats stores.
