(VA) (NOVA Parks) It’s the City Nature Challenge ID Bonanza! Learn how to document and identify wildlife on your smart phone and participate in the international City Nature Challenge. Roving Naturalist Matt Felperin is hosting a City Nature Challenge Volunteer Event at Potomac Overlook Regional Park. Participants will learn how to use the iNaturalist app on their smartphones to document wildlife. The group will then take a nature walk and wield their new powers of posting observations of wildlife on iNaturalist.
The annual international City Nature Challenge is the perfect opportunity to get your feet wet in the world of Citizen Science. This four-day global bioblitz, held this year April 26-29, is a friendly competition where cities vie to have the greatest numbers of nature observations submitted through the iNaturalist app.
